The God Delusion (2006)

Picture
Richard Dawkins, in The God Delusion, tells us how fed up he is with people who look to science for justification of their religious convictions while refusing to apply logic and reasoning to religion. An entity such as God, to do what he does, would have to be extremely complex, raising questions as to how it came into existence, how it communicates and where it resides. He explores religion's negative aspects that are hidden to many.

Many people dismiss Dawkins as a bully, yet he is only applying the scrutiny that any scientific theory must endure to be considered true. Readers will note that in the book, Dawkins is not particularly polite to people of faith.

The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution (2009)

Picture

In The Greatest Show on Earth, Dawkins amasses a large amount of evidence in favor of the theory of evolution. Many readers agree that he appears to be more polite about religious people, but still holds hostility towards them. Here, he shows his brilliance particularly when he forgets his opponents and focuses on the scientific proof and evidence.

Dawkins manages to  explain the scientific theories very well for nonscientific readers and maintains a high level of quality reading throughout the book. He doesn't fail to show that religion couldn't possibly be correct and that a world of religion would be a world of ignorance.
